The National Disability Insurance Scheme, supporting people with a disability

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a way of providing support for Australians under the age of 65, who live with a disability, including psychosocial disability. The NDIS supports people with disabilities to set goals, build skills and capability so they may live a more productive life, participate in the community and access employment and study.

As an NDIS registered provider, I offer Individual Counselling (under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living Skills) on a one to one basis, supporting and empowering participants to work towards reaching their goals through building confidence, positive coping skills and capacity building techniques.  I predominantly work with women and offer support either in the comfort of the participants home, in a mutually agreed location, or in my practice rooms (conditions apply).

Fees & Payment

The sessions are by appointment and are offered for one-hour duration. Payment is accepted via cash or EFTPOS at the conclusion of each session, fees will be discussed with the initial enquiry.

Clients holding National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans who require counselling are billed under:

– Capacity Building Supports *
– Improved Daily Living Skills *
– Individual Counselling

Please note:  Cancellation or rescheduling of an appointment requires a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours notice or a fee will be charged.

What to expect at the initial appointment

The initial session is a bit different from future sessions; I will typically go through some paperwork with you, which will include the essence and limitations around privacy and confidentiality and I will explain the rights and responsibilities of both the client and the therapist to you.

I will then ask you certain questions about you and your life which will include a personal history, what you are currently going through and whether you are experiencing certain emotional and physical symptoms. This helps me to make an initial assessment so that I can understand why you came to therapy. We will discuss what it is you hope to gain from the therapeutic relationship and the expected length of treatment.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions and I will address any concerns you may have so that your needs are met moving forward. It would be helpful to remember that therapy is a process that requires commitment, openness and honesty for a successful outcome.

Sessions can be conducted at a suitable location (conditions apply).

Has lost the ability to be happy and longer than normal sadness sets in

Experiences worry, stress, and anxiety

Finds life spiralling out of control on a day-to-day basis

Needs help adjusting to change and setting manageable goals

Is coping with grief and loss

Has an illness or a chronic disease

Needs the input of someone else that remains impartial and objective

Finds that their experiences of the past surface and impact on life

Is experiencing relationship difficulties

Is dealing with low self-esteem

Is feeling alone or lonely

Is coping with addictive behaviour

Is a young person who cannot talk to family or friends

Is a mother and/or a parent finding life difficult to cope with
